About DALI

DALI was set up in 1983 by Peter Lyngdorf to give his Danish retail chain a house brand it could not be undercut on, and it grew far past that job. Its recognisable engineering choice is the hybrid tweeter: a conventional soft dome handling the crossover region and a ribbon taking over above it, so the ribbon never has to work low enough to be fragile. DALI still builds cabinets in Denmark, which is rare at the prices it sells at.

Lyngdorf owned Denmark largest hi-fi retail chain and started DALI to supply it, so the brand was born with a route to market already built.

Denmark is disproportionately important in loudspeakers - DALI, Dynaudio, Jamo, Buchardt, Scan-Speak and Vifa all come from a country of six million people, and the Danish driver industry supplies half the world.
