About Acoustic Energy

Acoustic Energy arrived in 1987 with the AE1, a small two-way with a spun aluminium mid-bass cone at a time when almost everything at the price used paper or plastic. Recording studios bought it as a nearfield monitor and the hi-fi press treated it as a giant-killer, which set the brand pattern - small cabinets, metal cones, more output than the size suggests. The AE1 has been reissued more than once since.

Phil Jones designed the AE1 and later went on to Boston Acoustics and to his own bass-amplifier company.

Notable models: AE1 Classic, AE300, AE500.
