About Hegel

Hegel was founded in Oslo in 1988 around Bent Holter research into cancelling amplifier distortion by feeding the error forward rather than looping it back, which the company calls SoundEngine. The commercial identity followed later: plain black boxes with a built-in streamer and DAC, aimed at people who want one component and one cable.

Holter developed the SoundEngine feed-forward error-correction topology as an engineering student, and built the company on it.
