About Audiolab

Audiolab was founded in 1983 by Philip Swift and Derek Scotland, and the 8000A integrated amplifier that followed became one of the longest-running British amplifiers of its generation - the same basic model, revised, sold from the mid-1980s into the 2000s. The company passed to Tag McLaren and then to IAG, which still uses the 8000-series numbering.

Philip Swift later bought Spendor, so the two brands share a common hand.

IAG also owns Wharfedale, Mission, Quad, Castle and Leak, and builds them in its own factory in Shenzhen.
