About Genelec

Genelec was founded in 1978 to supply monitors to Finnish broadcasting and committed to active designs - amplifier, crossover and driver engineered as one - long before that was normal. The curved cast-aluminium enclosure and the moulded waveguide around the tweeter exist to control what the cabinet edge does to the sound, not for looks. GLM, its measurement and calibration system, turns a pair of monitors into a room-corrected system.

Started to build monitors for the Finnish national broadcaster, and never really left the professional market.

Genelec is one of the few speaker brands whose reputation was built entirely in professional rooms and then leaked into home use, rather than the other way round.
