About Revel

Revel exists to apply Harman research directly. Floyd Toole, who had run the loudspeaker listening work at the Canadian National Research Council, built a programme at Harman with a purpose-built blind listening room where speakers are auditioned behind an acoustically transparent screen on a shuffler. Revel models are developed and validated in that room, and the resulting design targets - flat on axis, smooth and gently falling off axis - are now the mainstream scientific position on what listeners prefer.

Built on the psychoacoustic research programme Floyd Toole set up at Harman after his work at the Canadian National Research Council.

Floyd Toole book on sound reproduction is probably the most cited text in modern loudspeaker design, and Revel is the commercial expression of it.
