About Musical Fidelity

Musical Fidelity was founded in 1982 by Antony Michaelson, and the A1 of 1985 - a Class A integrated amplifier that ran hot enough to worry owners and sounded good enough that they tolerated it - defined the brand. The Nu-Vista series of the late 1990s used nuvistors, tiny metal-canned valves originally made for military and television use, from old stock nobody else wanted.

A clarinettist as well as an engineer, and one of the more outspoken figures in British audio.

Sold in 2018 to the Austrian distributor behind Pro-Ject, so the brand is now run from Vienna although the design heritage is British.
