About Mark Levinson

Mark Levinson Audio Systems started in 1972 and its LNP-2 preamplifier became one of the defining objects of the early American high end - modular, expensive and built like laboratory equipment. Levinson himself parted company with the business in 1984. Under Harman the brand supplies the premium factory audio system in Lexus vehicles, which is where most people now encounter the name.

A musician and recording engineer. He left the company in 1984 and it kept his name; he went on to found Cello and later Red Rose Music.
