About Rega

Roy Gandy founded Rega in 1973 and the Planar 3 turntable that followed has been in production, in successive revisions, ever since - it is one of the very few hi-fi products that has been the standard answer at its price for fifty years. The RB300 tonearm, a one-piece cast arm tube, changed what a budget arm could be. Rega amplifiers follow the same logic: no tone controls, no remote on the cheaper models, money spent where it changes the sound.

A former Ford engineer who still runs the company and has resisted selling it for fifty years.

Rega, alongside Linn and Naim, is one of the three companies that defined the British hi-fi orthodoxy of source first - spend on the turntable before the speakers - which shaped how a generation of British shops sold systems.
