About Cambridge Audio

Cambridge Audio came out of the Cambridge Consultants engineering group in 1968, and its P40 integrated amplifier is usually named as the first production amplifier built around a toroidal transformer - a part now so standard that the innovation is invisible. The company changed hands several times before Audio Partnership took it on, and now runs one of the widest affordable-separates ranges in Britain.

The first product came from an engineering consultancy rather than a hi-fi enthusiast, which shows in the P40 amplifier that started it.

Notable models: P40, Azur 640A, CXA series, Evo, DacMagic.
