About Onkyo

Onkyo was founded in Osaka in 1946 and spent decades as one of the mainstream Japanese hi-fi houses before becoming, in the 2000s, one of the dominant AV receiver brands. The home entertainment arm ran into serious financial trouble and its assets were sold in 2021 to the joint venture that already owned Klipsch and Pioneer.

The Onkyo home-audio business was bought in 2021 by the Premium Audio Company, the Voxx and Sharp joint venture that also owns Klipsch, Pioneer and Integra, after the original Onkyo home entertainment arm failed.

Notable models: TX-NR receivers, Integra Research separates, Scepter and Monitor speakers.
