Performance Specs

One of the most important factors when deciding on an integrated amplifier is its power ratings and compatibility with your speaker's impedance requirements. The Onkyo A-9110 is rated at 30 watts RMS into 8-ohms.

Here are the main highlights of its performance specs:

  • 30 watts into 8-ohms (10 Hz-100 kHz)
  • 4-ohms Min Impedance (allows compatibility with a wide range of loudspeakers)
  • 103dB Signal to Noise Ratio

Which speakers suit the Onkyo A-9110?

30 W into 8 ohms, rated down to 4 ohms. We rank every passive speaker we cover against it on power, impedance safety and current delivery.

We check power, impedance safety and current delivery - not just watts.

Need more power?

Onkyo A-9110 is rated at 30 watts into 8 ohms, which puts it in our Up to 60 watts band. The next band up is 61 to 90 watts, which is worth about 3.9dB more output. That is a real difference in headroom on peaks, and a modest one in how loud the system plays - power and loudness are not the same thing.

  • FiiO AIR AMP – 90 watts, $300 compare
  • Yamaha A-S501 – 85 watts, $550 compare
  • Sony STR-DH190 – 90 watts, $248 compare

Before buying watts, check what your speakers actually need: the amp and speaker matcher works it out from their sensitivity, impedance and your room.

When pairing the Onkyo A-9110 with a passive Bookshelf (Stand mount) or Passive Floor Standing (Tower) speaker, you have to check if their Max Power Range is below the max wattage of the amp for the given impedance levels. Operating your amp outside of this max range may damage the speakers.

Inputs and Outputs

Besides the performance specs of the Onkyo A-9110, the next important feature set that you have to evaluate is the input and output selections that it offers.

Bluetooth Connectivity

Onkyo A-9110 doesn't have bluetooth connectivity feature. In order to stream your music via bluetooth, the easiest way is to connect an external bluetooth receiver to your Onkyo A-9110. Two bluetooth receivers that we recommend are the iFi Zen Blue V2 and the Audioengine B1.

Among the amps in the same price range, these are the 5 amps that have Bluetooth Connectivity:

  • Denon PMA-600NE - MSRP 499$ - Compare w/ A-9110
  • WiiM Amp Pro - MSRP 379$ - Compare w/ A-9110
  • NAD D 3020 V2 - MSRP 499$ - Compare w/ A-9110
  • OSD Nero Stream XD2 - MSRP 400$ - Compare w/ A-9110
  • Emotiva BasX TA1 - MSRP 499$ - Compare w/ A-9110

Phono Input

Onkyo A-9110 features two Phono Inputs which are compatible with MM (Moving Magnet) type of phono cartridges, you can connect your turntable with MM cartridges directly to this amp without the need for a phono preamp. If you are using an MC cartridge on your turntable, you need to use a phono preamp that has MC phono stage such as the Cambridge Duo or the iFi ZEN Phono.

Subwoofer Output

Onkyo A-9110 has a dedicated subwoofer output which can be used to connect it directly to a powered subwoofer via an LFE(Low Frequency Effects) cable.
Check our Powered Subwoofers page to find a subwoofer that will work with Onkyo A-9110 amp and your speakers.

Onkyo A-9110 Pros and Cons

Drawn from the published figures on this page, not from listening.

  • ✓30 watts per channel into 8 ohms.
  • ✓Signal-to-noise ratio of 103dB, so the amplifier itself should be inaudible between tracks.
  • ✓Phono stage built in (MM), so a turntable needs no separate preamplifier.
  • ✓Has tone controls.
  • ✗Analogue inputs only - a TV, computer or CD transport needs an external DAC.
  • ✗The phono stage is moving-magnet only; a moving-coil cartridge would need a step-up or an external stage.
  • ✗No Bluetooth and no network streaming - everything arrives over a cable.
