Edifier MR4 is a 2-way Powered Bass Reflex Bookshelf speaker by Edifier. It was released in August 2021. MR4's built-in amplifier provides 42-watt RMS. The built-in power amplifier saves space & eliminates the need to connect Edifier MR4 to a stereo receiver or external power amp. It features a 1" Soft-Dome Tweeter and 1 x 4" Polypropylene with mica Woofer.

Edifier publishes 4.5 kg as the net weight of the PAIR, so the weight columns are left empty. Active speaker 197.5 mm deep, passive 184 mm; the row carries the active one. The only MR model with no Bluetooth, no app and no Hi-Res certification, and the only one whose amplifier drives a passive crossover rather than each driver separately. Edifier does not publish a sample rate or bit depth for it. Signal-to-noise ratio 85 dB(A).

The speaker has a frequency range of 60-20k Hz. Edifier MR4 has an MSRP of 170$ per pair.

Recommended Accessories

Here is a list of accessories that we think you may need for the Edifier MR4.

  • Vibration Isolators: IsoAcoustics isolators are our favorite isolators but you may find more affordable options too.
  • Acoustic Panels and Treatments: Your room is as important as your stereo equipment so acoustic treatments goes a long way in improving the overall performance.
  • Speaker Stands: Stands bring your bookshelf speakers to ideal height (rule of thumb is to have the tweeter level with your ear in your listening position), helps stability and acoustical isolation.

Frequently Asked Questions about Edifier MR4

Does the Edifier MR4 need an amplifier?

The Edifier MR4 is an active speaker with a 42-watt RMS built-in amplifier. You do not need a separate amplifier or receiver - just a source.

Does the Edifier MR4 need a subwoofer?

The Edifier MR4 reaches down to 60Hz (full range 60-20k Hz). That covers most music, though a subwoofer still adds the bottom octave for home theatre.

No. The Edifier MR4 has no grille - the drivers are left exposed, which is worth knowing if you have children or pets.

How much does the Edifier MR4 cost?
