History

Drivers
One of the fundamental differences between these two speakers is that Triton Seven is a 2-way design whereas the T66 is a 3-way speaker. 3-way designs utilize a midrange driver in addition to the tweeter and woofer on 2-way designs. Designing a crossover for a 3-way speaker is a complicated process and generally increases the overall cost of the speaker.

Triton Seven features a " Folded Ribbon Tweeter and 2 x 5.25" Polypropylene Woofer. On the other hand, the T66 features a " Folded Ribbon Tweeter, a 4.5" Midrange and 2 x 5 x 9" Woofer.
Frequency Response
Triton Seven has a frequency range of 29-35k Hz whereas T66 has a frequency range of 29-25k Hz.

Impedance and Sensitivity
Triton Seven is a 8 ohms speaker compared to the T66 which has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. Lower impedance speakers, especially the ones that are rated at 4 ohms may put more pressure on the amplifier unit especially when played at high volume levels, so make sure the amp you pair with the T66 can provide this impedance level.
These two speakers also have different sensitivity levels. Triton Seven sensitivity is rated at 89 dB and the T66's is rated at 91 dB. This 2 dB difference makes the GoldenEar T66 a more sensitive speaker compared to GoldenEar Triton Seven, hence will play louder with the same amount of watts.

Which should you choose?
Neither runs away with it - they trade advantages. Let the "depends" rows and your own room settle it. In a large or open-plan room, GoldenEar T66 has the cabinet volume to fill it more easily; in a small room, near a wall or at desk distance, GoldenEar Triton Seven is the easier speaker to get right. If your amplifier is modest, vintage or valve-based, GoldenEar T66 is the safer partner - the other will want more current or more watts to sound its best.
And remember what a spec sheet cannot show: how each looks in your room and whether the finish suits it, what dealer support and warranty are like where you live, and how they actually sound to you.
