One scale for both, aligned at the back panels the way they would sit against a wall, so the deeper one visibly stands further out.

Near-identical footprints.

Inputs and Outputs

The input and output selections that are offered is an important factor when comparing two amplifiers. Here you can find how the I/O selections of the Hegel H200 and Hegel A200 differs from each other.

Balanced connections

Both have balanced XLR connections. A balanced cable carries the signal twice, on two conductors of opposite polarity. Interference picked up along the way lands on both equally and cancels when the two are recombined at the far end, so the longer the cable run and the noisier the surroundings, the more it is worth. Whether it also yields more power depends on how the amplifier is built inside - some are balanced end to end, others convert to single-ended internally and deliver the same either way.

Verdict

Both are Hegel, from different ranges - the engineering approach is shared and the differences are mostly in power, connectivity and price.

AreaBetterWhy
Powerevenly matchedEffectively the same output - 150W against 150W into 8 ohms is under 1dB, which is not an audible difference in loudness.
Bass controlevenly matchedSimilar damping factor (4000 vs 4000).
Noise floorevenly matchedMuch the same signal-to-noise ratio (100dB vs 100dB).
Built-in DACAHegel H200 has a DAC on board; the other needs an external one, which is another box, another power lead and another purchase.
Analogue inputsBHegel A200 takes more analogue sources - 4 against 3.
Room to growevenly matchedThe same expansion options on both.
HeadphonesdependsOnly Hegel A200 has a headphone output. Worth something if you listen late, nothing if you never do.
PriceBHegel A200 costs less - $3,995 against $4,995 at list.
Watts per dollarBHegel A200 is the cheaper watt - about $27 per watt against $33. A blunt measure, and it says nothing about how either sounds, but it is the honest one for raw output.

A Hegel H200  B Hegel A200
depends neither is better in the abstract - it turns on your room, your system or how you will use them. Only specs published for both amplifiers are judged; anything missing on either side is left out rather than guessed.

Which should you choose?

Hegel A200 has the edge on paper, though not by much. The rows marked "depends" are more likely to decide this than the score is. If you already own a DAC or a streamer, the built-in one is money you are paying twice for, and Hegel A200 becomes the more rational buy.

What a spec sheet cannot show: how either sounds with your speakers, how the controls feel day to day, and what the app is like to live with - which is where most all-in-one amplifiers are actually won or lost. Power figures are the manufacturers' own and are not measured to a common standard, so treat small differences as noise. If you can hear both, that will tell you more than any row above.
