Both amplifiers and both views share one scale, so everything here is directly comparable. Hover a box for its dimensions.

One scale for both, aligned at the back panels the way they would sit against a wall, so the deeper one visibly stands further out.

Hegel A200 needs about 17% more shelf area. Hegel A200 is 60mm deeper - the measurement that decides whether a rack door closes. Hegel A200 is 20mm taller.

Inputs and Outputs

The input and output selections that are offered is an important factor when comparing two amplifiers. Here you can find how the I/O selections of the Hegel A200 and Hegel H95 differs from each other.

Balanced connections

Hegel A200 has balanced XLR connections and Hegel H95 does not. A balanced cable carries the signal twice, on two conductors of opposite polarity. Interference picked up along the way lands on both equally and cancels when the two are recombined at the far end, so the longer the cable run and the noisier the surroundings, the more it is worth. Whether it also yields more power depends on how the amplifier is built inside - some are balanced end to end, others convert to single-ended internally and deliver the same either way.

Verdict

These are not the same size of amplifier: Hegel A200 has roughly 2.5x the power of Hegel H95. That is about 4dB, so it is a question of room size and how hard your speakers are to drive, not of one being the better amplifier.

AreaBetterWhy
PowerAHegel A200 has more power - 150W against 60W into 8 ohms. That is about 4dB, so it plays usefully louder before it runs out and has more in hand on peaks.
Room sizedependsWe rate Hegel A200 the better fit for a mid-size room, a large room and a very large room, and Hegel H95 for desk or near-field listening and a small room. Match the amplifier to the room you actually have, not the one you want.
Bass controlAHegel A200 has the higher damping factor (4000 vs 2000), which usually means a tighter grip on a woofer. Above about 100 the returns flatten out, so read this as a tendency rather than a ranking.
Noise floorevenly matchedMuch the same signal-to-noise ratio (100dB vs 100dB).
Built-in DACBHegel H95 has a DAC on board; the other needs an external one, which is another box, another power lead and another purchase.
Analogue inputsAHegel A200 takes more analogue sources - 4 against 2.
Phono stagedependsHegel A200 has a built-in phono stage (MM, derived from the Hegel V10 phono stage) and Hegel H95 does not. Decisive if you own a turntable, completely irrelevant if you do not - and an outboard phono stage is easy to add later either way.
Room to growevenly matchedThe same expansion options on both.
Shelf spacedependsHegel H95 takes up about 15% less shelf area (1505cm² against 1763cm²), and it is 60mm shallower, which is the measurement that decides whether a rack door shuts.
PriceBHegel H95 costs less - $2,000 against $3,995 at list.
Watts per dollarAHegel A200 is the cheaper watt - about $27 per watt against $33. A blunt measure, and it says nothing about how either sounds, but it is the honest one for raw output.

A Hegel A200  B Hegel H95
depends neither is better in the abstract - it turns on your room, your system or how you will use them. Only specs published for both amplifiers are judged; anything missing on either side is left out rather than guessed.

Which should you choose?

The usual trade-off: Hegel A200 measures better, Hegel H95 costs about 50% less. With most speakers in most rooms that gap is smaller in practice than it looks here. Start with the room. In a large or open-plan room, or with speakers that are hard to drive - low sensitivity, or an impedance that dips - Hegel A200 has the headroom, and headroom is what stops an amplifier hardening up on peaks. At desk distance or in a small room, 60 watts is already more than most people ever use, and the extra 90 watts would be headroom you pay for and never hear - we rate Hegel A200 poorly for near-field use for exactly that reason. If you play records, Hegel A200 saves you buying a phono stage; if you do not, ignore that row entirely.

What a spec sheet cannot show: how either sounds with your speakers, how the controls feel day to day, and what the app is like to live with - which is where most all-in-one amplifiers are actually won or lost. Power figures are the manufacturers' own and are not measured to a common standard, so treat small differences as noise. If you can hear both, that will tell you more than any row above.
