Wharfedale's latest heritage series loudspeaker, the Wharfedale Super Denton which was released back in March 2024 is the first 3-way speaker in the Denton series, the others being the Wharfedale Denton 85 and the Denton 80. The new mid-range driver on the Denton Super is only 2" in diameter though, quite small for a typical midrange driver we see in today's loudspeaker design.
Here you can see the scaled-size comparison of these two speakers. By keeping the additional driver relatively small, Wharfedale managed to keep the overall size of the Super Denton very close to Denton 85's.
Now let's look at the specs and feature comparison of these two speakers. One thing that seems very odd to me is the Super Denton's frequency response of 52-20,000 Hz (±3dB) which is a step behind Denton 85's 45-20,000 Hz (±3dB). I don't know why the new design doesn't go as low as its predecessor, could it be the new midrange driver taking too much space in the cabinet which leaves less room to reach lower frequencies?

Price
The new Super Denton is selling for $1,399 per pair whereas the Denton 85 has an MSRP of $999. It is hard to tell if the Super justifies the $400, especially without listening to both speakers side-by-side but it is still great seeing Wharfedale innovating and improving its classic models with the latest technologies.
