Drivers
One of the fundamental differences between these two speakers is that EVO5.2 is a 3-way design whereas the Aria 906 is a 2-way speaker. 3-way designs utilize a midrange driver in addition to the tweeter and woofer on 2-way designs. Designing a crossover for a 3-way speaker is a complicated process and generally increases the overall cost of the speaker.

EVO5.2 features a 1.375" SilentWeave cotton and felt damping fiber AMT (Ribbon) Tweeter, a 2" Midrange and 1 x 6.5" woven Kevlar Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 800 Hz and 4.3 kHz. On the other hand, the Aria 906 features a 1" TNF aluminum/magnesium Inverted Hard Dome Tweeter and 1 x 6.5" Flax Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 2800Hz.
Frequency Response
EVO5.2 has a frequency range of 44-24k Hz whereas Aria 906 has a frequency range of 55-28k Hz. With a minimum frequency of 44Hz, the EVO5.2 can go significantly deeper on the low side and provide stronger bass compared to the Aria 906's min frequency of 55Hz.

Impedance and Sensitivity
EVO5.2 is a 4 ohms speaker compared to the Aria 906 which has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. Lower impedance speakers, especially the ones that are rated at 4 ohms may put more pressure on the amplifier unit especially when played at high volume levels, so make sure the amp you pair with the EVO5.2 can provide this impedance level.
These two speakers also have different sensitivity levels. EVO5.2 sensitivity is rated at 88 dB and the Aria 906's is rated at 89.5 dB. This 2 dB difference makes the Focal Aria 906 a more sensitive speaker compared to Wharfedale EVO5.2, hence will play louder with the same amount of watts.

Which should you choose?
Focal Aria 906 is ahead, but only on 1 of the measured areas, and it costs about 41% more. That is a lot of money for a narrow margin on paper - Wharfedale EVO5.2 looks like the sensible buy unless something else about the Focal Aria 906 appeals to you. If a subwoofer is in your plans, the bass gap largely stops mattering - you would be crossing over above 55Hz anyway, so judge these on the other rows instead. In a large or open-plan room, Wharfedale EVO5.2 has the cabinet volume to fill it more easily; in a small room, near a wall or at desk distance, Focal Aria 906 is the easier speaker to get right.
