In this review, we will be comparing EGG and YU2, two Powered Bookshelf speakers from KEF and Kanto. Being Powered speakers, they both have built-in amplifiers so you don't need an external power amp or an integrated amp to power them. Let's have a brief look at the main features

EGG features a 0.75" Aluminum Dome Tweeter and 1 x 4.25" Aluminum Woofer . On the other hand, the YU2 features a 0.75" Silk Soft-Dome Tweeter and 1 x 3" Kevlar Woofer .
Frequency Response
EGG has a frequency range of 90-33k Hz whereas YU2 has a frequency range of 80-20k Hz. With a minimum frequency of 80Hz, the YU2 can go significantly deeper on the low side and provide stronger bass compared to the EGG's min frequency of 90Hz.

Size of a speaker can sometimes become an important decision factor due to space constraints or in some cases purely for esthetic reasons. In this section, we are going to compare KEF EGG's and Kanto YU2's external dimensions. KEF EGG has external dimensions of 274.6 x 138.1 x 184.1mm ( 10.8125 x 5.4375 x 7.25inch) whereas Kanto YU2 has external dimensions of 150.0 x 100.0 x 135.0mm ( 5.90 x 3.9 x 5.3inch) .
KEF EGG is clearly the larger of the two speakers. Its body is 38.1mm wider, 124.6mm taller and 49.1mm deeper than Kanto YU2.

Base surface area of a loudspeaker may become a determining factor when the space in your room or desk is limited.
The base surface area of the KEF EGG is approximately 254.2cm2 / 39.4inch2 and base area of the Kanto YU2 is approximately 135.0cm2 / 20.9inch2. The EGG requires 88% more surface area than the YU2 which gives it a small disadvantage on placement in tight spaces.
