Drivers

One of the fundamental differences between these two speakers is that F1-10S is a 2-way design whereas the Synchrony T600 is a 3-way speaker. 3-way designs utilize a midrange driver in addition to the tweeter and woofer on 2-way designs. Designing a crossover for a 3-way speaker is a complicated process and generally increases the overall cost of the speaker.

The graph below depicts how these two speakers compare with the max, min and average Low Frequency values of other speakers in the Floor-standing class in our database.

Neither pair reaches down to 20Hz, the usual definition of full-range, which is normal for speakers of this size. If you want the bottom octave for movies or bass-heavy music, add a subwoofer to whichever you choose. Visit our Powered Subwoofers section to find out more about the available options.

Impedance and Sensitivity

F1-10S is a 8 ohms speaker compared to the Synchrony T600 which has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. Lower impedance speakers, especially the ones that are rated at 4 ohms may put more pressure on the amplifier unit especially when played at high volume levels, so make sure the amp you pair with the Synchrony T600 can provide this impedance level.

These two speakers also have different sensitivity levels. F1-10S sensitivity is rated at 94 dB and the Synchrony T600's is rated at 89 dB. This 5 dB difference makes the Fyne Audio F1-10S a more sensitive speaker compared to PSB Synchrony T600, hence will play louder with the same amount of watts.

Verdict

These sit in different price classes - Fyne Audio F1-10S costs roughly 4.8x what PSB Synchrony T600 does. Expect it to lead on paper; the question is whether the gap is audible enough in your room to be worth it.

AreaBetterWhy

Amplifier needs A Fyne Audio F1-10S is more sensitive (94dB vs 89dB), so it goes louder on the same amplifier.
Amplifier match A Fyne Audio F1-10S is the easier load at 8 ohms; the other is 4 ohms and wants an amplifier rated for it.
Size depends PSB Synchrony T600 is easier to place; Fyne Audio F1-10S is bigger, which usually goes with fuller bass. Your room decides.
Expandability B PSB Synchrony T600: bi-amping.
Price B PSB Synchrony T600 is cheaper - $8,000 against $38,499, about 79% less; arguably a different class.

A Fyne Audio F1-10S   B PSB Synchrony T600
depends neither is better in the abstract - it turns on your room, placement or how you will use them. Only specs published for both speakers are judged; anything missing on either side is left out rather than guessed.

Which should you choose?

Fyne Audio F1-10S is ahead, but only on 1 of the measured areas, and it costs about 79% more. That is a lot of money for a narrow margin on paper - PSB Synchrony T600 looks like the sensible buy unless something else about the Fyne Audio F1-10S appeals to you. In a large or open-plan room, Fyne Audio F1-10S has the cabinet volume to fill it more easily; in a small room, near a wall or at desk distance, PSB Synchrony T600 is the easier speaker to get right. If your amplifier is modest, vintage or valve-based, Fyne Audio F1-10S is the safer partner - the other will want more current or more watts to sound its best.

And remember what a spec sheet cannot show: how each looks in your room and whether the finish suits it, what dealer support and warranty are like where you live, and how they actually sound to you. If you can hear them first - ideally with your own music - that will tell you more than any number above.
