In this review, we will be comparing Evoke 30 and Focus 20 XD, two Bookshelf speakers by Dynaudio The main difference between these two speakers is that the Dynaudio Focus 20 XD is a Powered speaker which means that it has a built-in amplifier inside the speaker body so you don't need an external power amp or an integrated amp whereas the Dynaudio Evoke 10 is a Passive speaker so has to be matched with an amplifier to get any sound from it. Evoke 30 features a 1.1" Cerotar with Hexis Tweeter and 1 x 5.5" Magnesium Silicate Polymer Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 1400Hz. On the other hand, the Focus 20 XD features a 1.1" Coated-Silk Soft-Dome Tweeter and 1 x 6.7" Magnesium Silicate Polymer Woofer .
Frequency Response
Evoke 30 has a frequency range of 47-23k Hz whereas Focus 20 XD has a frequency range of 39-24k Hz. With a minimum frequency of 39Hz, the Focus 20 XD can go significantly deeper on the low side and provide stronger bass compared to the Evoke 30's min frequency of 47Hz.

Cabinet Type and Port Position
Both Evoke 30 and Focus 20 XD have rear firing ports. Rear ported speakers generally need more room between the backside of the speaker and the wall compared to sealed and front/bottom ported speakers. Placing the speakers too close to the walls may cause the bass to sound boomy.
