One of the fundamental differences between these two speakers is that A200 is a 2-way design whereas the A500 is a 3-way speaker. 3-way designs utilize a midrange driver in addition to the tweeter and woofer on 2-way designs. Designing a crossover for a 3-way speaker is a complicated process and generally increases the overall cost of the speaker.

A200 features a 0.74" Resonance-free aluminum dome with CDC waveguide aluminum waveguide Tweeter and 2 x 5" Long stroke paper cone Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 250Hz and 3100Hz. On the other hand, the A500 features a 0.74" fine weave soft fabric textile aluminum waveguide Tweeter , a 6" Midrange and 1 x 6" paper Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 150Hz and 1800Hz.

In this section, we are going to compare Buchardt A200's and Buchardt A500's external dimensions. Buchardt A200 has external dimensions of 315 x 160 x 220 mm ( 12.4 x 6.29 x 8.66 inch) whereas Buchardt A500 has external dimensions of 365.0 x 180.0 x 280.0mm ( 14.4 x 7 x 11inch) .
Buchardt A500 is clearly the larger of the two speakers. Its body is 20mm wider, 50mm taller and 60mm deeper than Buchardt A200.
