In this review, we will be comparing Tales 340 and DB4S, two Powered Subwoofer speakers from Triangle and Bowers Wilkins. Being Powered subwoofers, they both have built-in amplifiers so you don't need an external power amp or an integrated amp to power them. Which should you choose?
Neither runs away with it - they trade advantages. Let your room size and where the box can actually stand settle it. Films or music? If this is mainly a home cinema, Triangle Tales 340 will hit harder for the money; if it is mainly for music in a normal-sized room, B&W DB4S is usually the easier one to make sound right. Check your amplifier first: if it has no subwoofer or preamp output, Triangle Tales 340 is the only one of these two you can connect at all.
