Drivers
One of the fundamental differences between these two speakers is that LINTON Heritage is a 3-way design whereas the DENTON 80 is a 2-way speaker. 3-way designs utilize a midrange driver in addition to the tweeter and woofer on 2-way designs. Designing a crossover for a 3-way speaker is a complicated process and generally increases the overall cost of the speaker.

LINTON Heritage features a 1" woven textile Soft-dome Tweeter, a 5" Midrange and 1 x 8" Woven Kevlar Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 630Hz and 2400Hz. On the other hand, the DENTON 80 features a 1" Soft-Dome Tweeter and 1 x 5" Woven Kevlar Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 2300Hz.
Frequency Response
LINTON Heritage has a frequency range of 40-20k Hz whereas DENTON 80 has a frequency range of 44-24k Hz. With a minimum frequency of 40Hz, the LINTON Heritage can go slightly deeper then the DENTON 80's min frequency of 44Hz.

Impedance and Sensitivity
LINTON Heritage and DENTON 80 have the same Impedance of 6 ohms but where they differ is the sensitivity levels. LINTON Heritage sensitivity is rated at 90 dB and the DENTON 80's is at 86 dB. This 4 dB difference makes the Wharfedale LINTON a more sensitive speaker compared to Wharfedale Denton 80, hence will play louder with the same amount of watts.

Power
range is the range of input power in watts RMS that a loudspeaker is designed to handle. Staying
within that range gives nominal performance; driving the speaker beyond its maximum wattage can damage it.
LINTON Heritage can handle a max power of 200 watts RMS, whereas DENTON 80 has a max power handling value of 100 watts RMS, 100 watts less than the LINTON Heritage.
Note that higher power handling does not make a speaker louder: that depends mainly on

LINTON Heritage features Binding post type posts and DENTON 80 has a Binding post type posts. None of these speakers feature bi-amping/bi-wiring.

Cabinet Type and Port Position
Both LINTON Heritage and DENTON 80 have rear firing ports. Rear ported speakers generally need more room between the backside of the speaker and the wall compared to sealed and front/bottom ported speakers. Placing the speakers too close to the walls may cause the bass to sound boomy.

Physical Specs
The size of a speaker can sometimes be an important decision factor due to space constraints or in some cases purely for esthetic reasons. Which should you choose?
The usual trade-off: Wharfedale LINTON measures better, Wharfedale Denton 80 costs about 60% less. Whether that gap is worth the money is the call only you can make - and in a normal room it is often smaller than the numbers suggest. Match it to your room: we rate Wharfedale LINTON the better fit for a mid-size room and a large room, and Wharfedale Denton 80 for near-field listening and a small room.
