Antal Ez features a 1" Titanium dome Horn-Loaded Tweeter, a 6.5" Midrange and 2 x 6.5" Double ferrite fibreglass Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 215Hz and 2500Hz. On the other hand, the Solstice 8 features a 1" Magnesium alloy dome Horn-Loaded Tweeter, a 6.5" Midrange and 2 x 6.5" Paper, concave with no dust cap Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 250Hz and 3700Hz.
Frequency Response
Antal Ez has a frequency range of 40-22k Hz whereas Solstice 8 has a frequency range of 38-22k Hz. With a minimum frequency of 38Hz, the Solstice 8 can go slightly deeper then the Antal Ez's min frequency of 40Hz.
The graph below depicts how these two speakers compare with the max, min and average Low Frequency values of other speakers in the Floor-standing class in our database.
Low Frequency
Floor-standing Speakers
Neither pair reaches down to 20Hz, the usual definition of full-range, which is normal for speakers of this size. If you want the bottom octave for movies or bass-heavy music, add a subwoofer to whichever you choose. Visit our Powered Subwoofers section to find out more about the available options.
Impedance and Sensitivity
Antal Ez and Solstice 8 have the same Impedance of 8 ohms but where they differ is the sensitivity levels. Antal Ez sensitivity is rated at 92 dB and the Solstice 8's is at 91 dB. This 1 dB difference makes the Triangle Esprit Antal Ez a more sensitive speaker compared to Triangle Solstice 8, hence will play louder with the same amount of watts.

Power Range
Power
range is the range of input power in watts RMS that a loudspeaker is designed to handle. Staying
within that range gives nominal performance; driving the speaker beyond its maximum wattage can damage it.
Antal Ez and Solstice 8 have the same power range of 60-200 watts.
Note that higher power handling does not make a speaker louder: that depends mainly on
sensitivity and impedance. The calculator below shows how loud each of these actually plays
on a real amplifier.
Which plays louder on your amplifier?
Starting with a popular amplifier - change it to the one you own, or any you are
considering, and watch both numbers move.
Cabinet Type and Port Position
Both Antal Ez and Solstice 8 have front firing ports. front ported speakers offers more flexibility in placement in regards to proximity to walls&surfaces compared to rear ported speakers.
Physical Specs
The size of a speaker can sometimes be an important decision factor due to space constraints or in some cases purely for esthetic reasons. In this section, we are going to compare Triangle Esprit Antal Ez's and Triangle Solstice 8's external dimensions. Triangle Esprit Antal Ez has external dimensions of 1090.0 x 200.0 x 345.0mm (42-15/16 x 7-7/8 x 13-9/16inch) whereas Triangle Solstice 8 has external dimensions of 1075.0 x 308.0 x 394.0mm (42-5/16 x 12-1/8 x 15-1/2inch).
Triangle Esprit Antal Ez is 108mm narrower and 49mm less deeper than Triangle Solstice 8 but it is also 15mm taller.
Size, drawn to scale
Both speakers and both views share one scale, so everything here is directly comparable. Hover a box for its dimensions.
One scale for both, standing on the same surface and pushed back to the same wall, so the deeper one visibly sticks out further.
Triangle Solstice 8 needs about 76% more floor or shelf area. Triangle Solstice 8 is 49mm deeper, so it stands that much further out from the wall. Triangle Esprit Antal Ez is 15mm taller.
Base Surface Area Comparison
Base surface area of a loudspeaker may become a determining factor when the space in your room or desk is limited.
The base surface area of the Triangle Esprit Antal Ez is approximately 690.0cm2 / 107.0inch2 and base area of the Triangle Solstice 8 is approximately 1213.5cm2 / 188.1inch2. The Antal Ez requires 43% less surface area than the Solstice 8 which gives it a small advantage on placement in tight spaces.
Weight Comparison The weight of a loudspeaker can become an important factor if you need to move and reposition the unit often. Weight of a speaker can also "sometimes" be an indicator of the rigidity of the enclosure and the quality of the internal components used. The Triangle Esprit Antal Ez weighs 27.10kg / 59.6lbs and the Triangle Solstice 8 weighs 30.40kg / 66.9lbs. This makes the Solstice 8 12% heavier than the Antal Ez.
Here is a comparison of how Antal Ez and Solstice 8's weights compare with the average, max and min weights in Passive Floor-standing class.

Both are Triangle, from different ranges - so the house sound is shared and the differences are mostly in scale, engineering and price.
| Area | Better | Why |
|---|
| Bass | evenly matched | Much the same reach (40Hz vs 38Hz). |
| Amplifier needs | evenly matched | Similar sensitivity (92dB vs 91dB) - both want much the same power. |
| Headroom | evenly matched | Similar power handling (120W vs 130W). |
| Size | depends | Triangle Esprit Antal Ez is easier to place; Triangle Solstice 8 is bigger, which usually goes with fuller bass. Your room decides. |
| Expandability | A | Triangle Esprit Antal Ez: bi-amping. Triangle Esprit Antal Ez sits in a wider range (7 models), so a matched surround system is easier later. |
| Price | A | Triangle Esprit Antal Ez is cheaper - $1,980 against $2,799, about 29% less. |
A Triangle Esprit Antal Ez B Triangle Solstice 8
depends neither is better in the abstract - it turns on your room, your system or how you will use them. Only specs published for both speakers are judged; anything missing on either side is left out rather than guessed.
Which should you choose?
Triangle Esprit Antal Ez has the edge on paper, though the margin is not large. The rows marked "depends" may matter more to you than the score does. In a large or open-plan room, Triangle Solstice 8 has the cabinet volume to fill it more easily; in a small room, near a wall or at desk distance, Triangle Esprit Antal Ez is the easier speaker to get right. Think about the whole system, not just the speakers: the roughly $819 saved by taking the cheaper pair would buy a subwoofer or a better amplifier, and either usually does more for the sound than the difference between these two.
And remember what a spec sheet cannot show: how each looks in your room and whether the finish suits it, what dealer support and warranty are like where you live, and how they actually sound to you. If you can hear them first - ideally with your own music - that will tell you more than any number above.
