ES20 features a 1" Terylene Soft-Dome Tweeter and 1 x 6.5" Mica-reinforced polypropylene Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 2500Hz. On the other hand, the XT20 features a 1" Soft-Dome Tweeter and 1 x 6.5" Bi-laminate paper Woofer.
Frequency Response
ES20 has a frequency range of 41-40k Hz whereas XT20 has a frequency range of 38-40k Hz. With a minimum frequency of 38Hz, the XT20 can go slightly deeper then the ES20's min frequency of 41Hz.

Impedance and Sensitivity
ES20 and XT20 have the same Impedance of 8 ohms but where they differ is the sensitivity levels. ES20 sensitivity is rated at 86 dB and the XT20's is at 87 dB. This 1 dB difference makes the Polk XT20 a more sensitive speaker compared to Polk ES20, hence will play louder with the same amount of watts.

Power
range is the range of input power in watts RMS that a loudspeaker is designed to handle. Staying
within that range gives nominal performance; driving the speaker beyond its maximum wattage can damage it.
XT20 can handle a max power of 200 watts RMS, whereas ES20 has a max power handling value of 125 watts RMS, 75 watts less than the XT20.
Note that higher power handling does not make a speaker louder: that depends mainly on

ES20 features 5-Way post type posts and XT20 has a 5-Way post type posts. None of these speakers feature bi-amping/bi-wiring.

depends neither is better in the abstract - it turns on your room, your system or how you will use them. Only specs published for both speakers are judged; anything missing on either side is left out rather than guessed.
Which should you choose?
Polk XT20 is the easier recommendation: it leads on most of the measured areas and costs less. Take Polk ES20 if its size, looks or fit in your room suit you better. In a large or open-plan room, Polk ES20 has the cabinet volume to fill it more easily; in a small room, near a wall or at desk distance, Polk XT20 is the easier speaker to get right. Think about the whole system, not just the speakers: the roughly $100 saved by taking the cheaper pair would buy a subwoofer or a better amplifier, and either usually does more for the sound than the difference between these two.
And remember what a spec sheet cannot show: how each looks in your room and whether the finish suits it, what dealer support and warranty are like where you live, and how they actually sound to you.
