Motion MP10 features a 1.0 x 1.4" Folded Motion Ribbon Tweeter and 1 x 5.5" Woven Fiberglass Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 2100Hz. On the other hand, the 606 S2 AE features a 1" Aluminum Decoupled Double Dome Tweeter and 1 x 6.5" Continuum Woofer.

Motion MP10 has a frequency range of 81-25k Hz whereas 606 S2 AE has a frequency range of 52-28k Hz. With a minimum frequency of 52Hz, the 606 S2 AE can go significantly deeper on the low side and provide stronger bass compared to the Motion MP10's min frequency of 81Hz.

Impedance and Sensitivity

Motion MP10 is a 5 ohms speaker compared to the 606 S2 AE which has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms.

These two speakers also have different sensitivity levels. Motion MP10 sensitivity is rated at 92 dB and the 606 S2 AE's is rated at 88 dB. This 4 dB difference makes the MartinLogan Motion MP10 a more sensitive speaker compared to B&W 606 S2, hence will play louder with the same amount of watts.

Motion MP10 can handle a max power of 200 watts RMS, whereas 606 S2 AE has a max power handling value of 120 watts RMS, 80 watts less than the Motion MP10.

Cabinet Type and Port Position

Both Motion MP10 and 606 S2 AE have rear firing ports. Rear ported speakers generally need more room between the backside of the speaker and the wall compared to sealed and front/bottom ported speakers. Placing the speakers too close to the walls may cause the bass to sound boomy.

B&W 606 S2 has the edge on paper, though the margin is not large. The rows marked "depends" may matter more to you than the score does. If a subwoofer is in your plans, the bass gap largely stops mattering - you would be crossing over above 81Hz anyway, so judge these on the other rows instead. In a large or open-plan room, B&W 606 S2 has the cabinet volume to fill it more easily; in a small room, near a wall or at desk distance, MartinLogan Motion MP10 is the easier speaker to get right.
