One of the fundamental differences between these two speakers is that DALI Opticon 1 MK2 is a 2-way design whereas EVO4.2 is a 3-way speaker. 3-way designs utilize a midrange driver in addition to the tweeter and woofer on 2-way designs. Designing a crossover for a 3-way speaker is a complicated process and generally increases the overall cost of the speaker. DALI Opticon 1 MK2 features a 1.125" Soft-Dome Tweeter and x 4.75" Wood Fiber Woofer . On the other hand, EVO4.2 features a 1.1875 x 2.375" AMT (Ribbon) Tweeter and 1 x 6.5" Kevlar Woofer .
DALI Opticon 1 MK2 has a frequency range of 62-26k Hz whereas EVO4.2 has a frequency range of 54-22k Hz.
Impedance and Sensitivity
DALI Opticon 1 MK2 is a 4 ohms speaker compared to EVO4.2 which has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. These two speakers also have different sensitivity levels. DALI Opticon 1 MK2 sensitivity is rated at 86 dB and EVO4.2's is at 88 dB. This 2 dB difference makes Wharfedale EVO4.2 a more sensitive speaker compared to DALI Opticon 1 MK2, hence will play louder with the same amount of watts.
DALI Opticon 1 MK2 has a power range of 25-100 watts RMS whereas EVO4.2 has a power range of 25-120 watts.
Input Type and Bi-Amping / Bi-Wiring
EVO4.2 features Post posts which makes bi-amping or bi-wiring possible. DALI Opticon 1 MK2 has a Post which doesn't feature bi-amping/bi-wiring.
