In this review, we will be comparing Focus 30 and Sonetto V, two Floor-standing speakers from Dynaudio and Sonus Faber. The main difference between these two speakers is that the Dynaudio Focus 30 is a Powered speaker which means that it has a built-in amplifier inside the speaker body so you don't need an external power amp or an integrated amp whereas the Sonus Sonetto V is a Passive speaker so has to be matched with an amplifier to get any sound from it. Focus 30 features a 1.1" Cerotar Soft-Dome Tweeter , a 5.5" Midrange and 1 x 5.5" MSP Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 390 Hz - 4700 Hz. On the other hand, the Sonetto V features a 1.15" high definition DAD Dome Tweeter , a 6" Midrange and 2 x 7" aluminum cone Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 235 and 3.000 Hz.
Frequency Response
Focus 30 has a frequency range of 30-22k Hz whereas Sonetto V has a frequency range of 38-25k Hz. With a minimum frequency of 30Hz, the Focus 30 can go significantly deeper on the low side and provide stronger bass compared to the Sonetto V's min frequency of 38Hz.
