What size room are the DALI Opticon 1 II and Polk TSi100 speakers good for?
The size of the room in which you are planning to use these loudspeakers is an important decision

Opticon 1 MK2 features a 1.125" Soft-Dome Tweeter and 1 x 4.75" Wood Fiber Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 3000Hz. On the other hand, the TSi100 features a 1" Dome Tweeter and 1 x 5.25" Organic Fiber Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 2500Hz.
Frequency Response
Opticon 1 MK2 has a frequency range of 62-26k Hz whereas TSi100 has a frequency range of 61-24k Hz. With a minimum frequency of 61Hz, the TSi100 can go slightly deeper then the Opticon 1 MK2's min frequency of 62Hz.

Impedance and Sensitivity
Opticon 1 MK2 is a 4 ohms speaker compared to the TSi100 which has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. Lower impedance speakers, especially the ones that are rated at 4 ohms may put more pressure on the amplifier unit especially when played at high volume levels, so make sure the amp you pair with the Opticon 1 MK2 can provide this impedance level.
These two speakers also have different sensitivity levels. Opticon 1 MK2 sensitivity is rated at 86 dB and the TSi100's is rated at 89 dB. This 3 dB difference makes the Polk TSi100 a more sensitive speaker compared to DALI Opticon 1 II, hence will play louder with the same amount of watts.

Power Range
Power
range is the range of input power in watts RMS that a loudspeaker is designed to handle. While using
an amplifier within this range ensures the nominal performance , inputting a power that is higher than the
max wattage can result in a damaged speaker.
Keep in mind that a higher max power handling value doesn't necessarily make that a louder speaker
compared to a lower max handling speaker. Loudness or the sound level is also impacted by parameters
such as Impedance, sensitivity and system efficiencies.
Input Type and Bi-Amping / Bi-Wiring
Opticon 1 MK2 features Pair of 5-way Binding Posts - Gold-Plated type posts and TSi100 has a Pair of 5-way Binding Posts - Gold-Plated type posts. None of these speakers feature bi-amping/bi-wiring.

Cabinet Type and Port Position
Both Opticon 1 MK2 and TSi100 have rear firing ports. Rear ported speakers generally need more room between the backside of the speaker and the wall compared to sealed and front/bottom ported speakers. Placing the speakers too close to the walls may cause the bass to sound boomy.

Physical Specs
Size of a speaker can sometimes become an important decision factor due to space constraints or in some cases purely for esthetic reasons. In this section, we are going to compare DALI Opticon 1 II's and Polk TSi100's external dimensions. DALI Opticon 1 II has external dimensions of 254.0 x 153.0 x 235.0mm ( 10 x 6 x 9-1/4inch) whereas Polk TSi100 has external dimensions of 279.4 x 177.8 x 259.0mm ( 11.0 x 7.0 x 10.1inch) .
Polk TSi100 is clearly the larger of the two speakers. Its body is 24.8mm wider, 25.4mm taller and 24mm deeper than DALI Opticon 1 II.

Base Surface Area Comparison
Base surface area of a loudspeaker may become a determining factor when the space in your room or desk is limited.
The base surface area of the DALI Opticon 1 II is approximately 359.6cm2 / 55.7inch2 and base area of the Polk TSi100 is approximately 460.5cm2 / 71.4inch2. The Opticon 1 MK2 requires 22% less surface area than the TSi100 which gives it a small advantage on placement in tight spaces.
