YU6 features a 1" Silk Soft-Dome Tweeter and 1 x 5.25" Kevlar Woofer . On the other hand, the HD3 features a 0.75" Silk Soft-Dome Tweeter and 1 x 2.75" Kevlar/Glass-Aramid Composite Woofer .
Frequency Response
YU6 has a frequency range of 50-20k Hz whereas HD3 has a frequency range of 65-22k Hz. With a minimum frequency of 50Hz, the YU6 can go significantly deeper on the low side and provide stronger bass compared to the HD3's min frequency of 65Hz.

Cabinet Type and Port Position
YU6 has a rear firing port whereas HD3 has a front firing ports. Audioengine HD3's front-firing port gives more flexibility in placement in regards to proximity to walls compared to Kanto YU6 with its rear-firing port.
Physical Specs
Size of a speaker can sometimes become an important decision factor due to space constraints or in some cases purely for esthetic reasons. In this section, we are going to compare Kanto YU6's and Audioengine HD3's external dimensions. Kanto YU6 has external dimensions of 272.0 x 175.0 x 205.0mm ( 10.7 x 6.9 x 8.1inch) whereas Audioengine HD3 has external dimensions of 231.8 x 108.0 x 177.8mm ( 9.125 x 4.25 x 7.25inch) .
Kanto YU6 is clearly the larger of the two speakers. Its body is 67mm wider, 40.2mm taller and 27.2mm deeper than Audioengine HD3.
Base Surface Area Comparison
Base surface area of a loudspeaker may become a determining factor when the space in your room or desk is limited.
The base surface area of the Kanto YU6 is approximately 358.8cm2 / 55.6inch2 and base area of the Audioengine HD3 is approximately 192.0cm2 / 29.8inch2. The YU6 requires 87% more surface area than the HD3 which gives it a small disadvantage on placement in tight spaces.
