In this review, we will be comparing Focus 50 and Sonetto V, two Floor-standing speakers from Dynaudio and Sonus Faber. The main difference between these two speakers is that the Dynaudio Focus 50 is a Powered speaker which means that it has a built-in amplifier inside the speaker body so you don't need an external power amp or an integrated amp whereas the Sonus Sonetto V is a Passive speaker so has to be matched with an amplifier to get any sound from it. Focus 50 features a 1.1" Cerotar Soft-Dome Tweeter , a 6" Midrange and 2 x 7" MSP Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 220 Hz - 2400 Hz. On the other hand, the Sonetto V features a 1.15" high definition DAD Dome Tweeter , a 6" Midrange and 2 x 7" aluminum cone Woofer with a Crossover frequency at 235 and 3.000 Hz.
Frequency Response
Focus 50 has a frequency range of 22-22k Hz whereas Sonetto V has a frequency range of 38-25k Hz. With a minimum frequency of 20Hz, the Focus 50 can go significantly deeper on the low side and provide stronger bass compared to the Sonetto V's min frequency of 38Hz.
